CH 6: Three Thousand Eyes in the Karoo

Deep inside the Northern Cape in South Africa is a stretch of land so barren that farmers require hectares of grazing land for a single sheep. Radio astronomers have identified it as one of only two sites in the world good enough to host the world's largest radio telescope: the Square Kilometre Array. I journey to this remote part of South Africa to learn what it will take to build such a telescope and how the magnificient instrument could become one of our best bets for decoding the mystery of dark energy, and maybe even providing a clue to whether there are other universes out there.
